When it comes to applying the power to the road, this comes courtesy of the cars Electronicallycontrolled Continuously Variable Transmission ECVT. As there are no conventional gears, the effect is stepless acceleration and deceleration, contributing further to the fluid experience you enjoy in the GS 450h. The transmissions inherent efficiency boosts fuel economy and reduces emissions, too. Beneath the high quality fabric or soft, finely perforated genuine leather that upholsters the front seats, sophisticated electronics allow you to tailor your ideal configuration, ensuring total comfort on even the longest trips. Once youve established your favoured setup, using eight various electronic adjustments, your seat will remember it for you. After all, it can be tiresome having to reset your seat after someone else has been at the wheel. The memory function automatically repositions the seat and steering wheel to meet the requirements of up to three people. The comfort of front seat passengers is further enhanced by seat ventilation andheating perfect for a rapid warmup on frosty mornings. SMART ENTRY AND START SYSTEM Slip the electronic key into your pocket or bag and it will inform the GS that you are approaching the car. The GS will instantly recognise the keys unique identification and then approve access. All you have to do then is touch any door handle or the boot release and it will unlock. Theres more. The electronic key first checks that its outside the car before you can lock it, preventing the inconvenience of locking yourself out. If you have inadvertently left the ignition running and closed the car doors, or the gearshift is in any other position other than Park, the car cannot be locked. PRECRASH SAFETY PCS SYSTEM In simple terms, the car thinks ahead on your behalf. The GS can be equipped with a unique radar sensor that detects obstacles in front. At the same time, the Electronic Control Unit monitors speed and steering angle of the vehicle to determine, in advance, whether an unavoidable collision is about to occur. If it is, the PCS system will take potentially crucial action in a split second. It does this by preemptively activating the Pre Crash front seatbelts. Both front seatbelts have a motorised function that automatically retracts the belts prior to impact, reducing the risk of injury. The Brake Assist BA system, which increases braking force and reduces speed well in advance of impact, is also primed. ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ACC The PCS system works in tandem with ACC. While in Cruise mode, the system uses a radar sensor to automatically match the speed of the GS to that of the vehicle in front, and gently adjusts power or applies the brakes to maintainthe same distance. Once the road is clear, the GS accelerates to the previously selected cruising speed. Sensorcontrolled front airbags can register the intensity of impact, even the seat position, and react accordingly. In the sides of the cabin, large Thorax, Abdomen, Pelvis TAP airbags are designed to protect some of the most vulnerable areas of the human body. They are also located within the seats, rather than the doors. Its a thoughtful touch because it means they are always in the ideal position to protect you, regardless of however far back or forward you have placed your seat. Along the sides of the interior, the SRS Curtain Shield airbag system provides yet further protection. If the sensor in the lower part of the centre pillar detects a collision, the Curtain Shield bags and the side bags TAP are deployed simultaneously.
